Our Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically adept Sr. Microsoft Systems Administrator to serve as a high-level escalation point for our complex, multi-tenant enterprise environments. The core focus is ensuring the operational stability, performance, and security of infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 (M365), and mandatory VMware virtualization platforms. This role requires an engineer with over 7 years of maturity who excels in formal IT Service Management practices using ITIL principles and ServiceNow.
Responsibilities (note that this list is not exhaustive):
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
Azure/M365 Expertise: Lead administration, configuration, and advanced operational support for production workloads within Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS) and Microsoft 365.
Virtualization Mastery: Provide mandatory administration, maintenance, and expert-level troubleshooting for VMware environments and other current hypervisor technologies.
Monitoring & Reliability: Proactively monitor and diagnose critical incidents using tools like Azure Monitor and Log Analytics to analyze server performance and drive system reliability.
Cross-Platform Systems: Perform senior-level administration for both Windows and Linux operating systems, including patching, security hardening, user management, and firewall configuration (IPTables/Windows Firewall).
Service Management & Support
Incident Resolution: Act as the final escalation point to quickly analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex service requests and production incidents, ensuring strict adherence to SLAs.
ITSM Process: Apply strong practical knowledge of ITIL principles and utilize platforms like ServiceNow for efficient incident, problem, and change management within a regulated enterprise context.
Networking & Web Ops: Perform advanced troubleshooting of remote connectivity (SSH, RDP, VPN, sFTP, SCP, RSYNC), DNS, Load Balancers, and Web Servers (IIS, Nginx, Apache).
Mentorship: Document solutions thoroughly and provide expert technical guidance and training to junior team members.
Schedule & Commitment
This role requires commitment to a shifted weekly schedule (e.g., Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday) to provide necessary coverage for maintenance windows and critical support outside of standard business hours.
What you bring:
Experience: Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, operations, or systems administration in a demanding multi-tenant enterprise environment.
Cloud & Core Systems: Demonstrated deep administrative support experience with Azure/M365 and expert proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Virtualization (Mandatory): Extensive administrative experience and strong working knowledge of VMware.
ITSM: Proven practical experience with ITIL methodologies and utilizing platforms such as ServiceNow.
Application Infrastructure: Proficiency with LAMP Stack, web server administration, and configuration for web application scaling.
Database Skills: Working administrative knowledge of both Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
Soft Skills:
Excellent Troubleshooting Skills, strong communication, and proven ability to work independently as a self-starter.
Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent education and experience.
Highly Desirable Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Certifications: Active Azure certification (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-400), or AWS certification.
Security & Web: Experience with Firewall administration, SSL certificate/domain management, CDN (Akamai), and CMS (Wordpress/Drupal).
