BGC Okanagan is hiring a Child, Youth, and Family Counsellor for our Integrated Family Development Program in Oliver, BC. In the role, the counselor provides direct support to caregivers and families, helping them build skills and access resources that enhance family functioning and promote the well-being of young people. Key responsibilities include crisis intervention, advocacy, skill development, and connecting families to community services. Counselors work collaboratively with families to create and implement individualized service plans while offering ongoing guidance and emotional support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Collects and analyzes client information through interviews, observation, meetings with caregivers and service providers, and standardized tools to assess needs.
Develops and delivers counselling plans using therapeutic approaches such as family systems, solution-focused, narrative, and group counselling techniques.
Provides skill-building in areas including parenting, anger management, and self-regulation.
Provides case management services and consultation to other service providers. Provides information on and refers clients to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
Monitors client progress, provides follow-up, and adjusts plans as needed.
Evaluates counselling effectiveness, documents progress, and collaborates with therapists, social workers, and other professionals.
Liaises with and advocates for clients with community agencies and school personnel.
Maintains related records, statistics, and reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related human or social services field.
Two (2) years of recent, related experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Hours: 30 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $38.68 per hour
