About the Position:
The Cultural Support Worker is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering culturally appropriate programming for clients residing in independent housing facilities. The worker acts as a cultural liaison, supporting the emotional, social and cultural wellbeing of tenants by facilitating access to services, providing language and cultural interpretation as needed, and organizing regular community building activities that reflects the traditions, customs and value of clients.
Reports to: Program Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies the cultural, recreational, and social needs of clients who do not speak English
Develops and implement culturally appropriate programs, workshops and events
Facilitate access to external resources and services for clients who do not speak English
Provides informal translation and interpretation support where appropriate
Fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that promotes community connection and individual dignity
Coordinates and supervises volunteers which supports programs and services offered on-site
Submits regular reports and updates to Program Manager, coworkers, and relevant partners regarding program outcomes, client engagement and emerging needs
Other related duties as required by the Program Manager
Education, Training and Experience:
Post-secondary certification in social services, social work or comparable professional experience
Minimum of 1 year experience working in program planning and coordination
Experience working in housing services and tenant relations
Experience working with seniors
Experience working with immigrants and marginalized communities an asset
Knowledge of intercultural and social issues
Knowledge of Chinese culture, customs and traditions
Occupational First Aid Certification an asset

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Fluent in Cantonese and/or Mandarin
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to excellence in service delivery
