How You’ll Succeed Research Review – All Research must be reviewed and approved by a Licensed Supervisory Analyst (SA) before it can be distributed. During busier times, research may be first reviewed by an Editor for editorial issues, then by an SA for quality control and compliance requirements. The SAs work on a shift schedule. All SAs provide back-up for the Editorial team and each other with the goal of providing seamless coverage. The SA will be involved in all aspects of the publishing process, which includes working closely with Analysts and Associates to ensure timely and accurate publication of their research. The incumbent must have a depth of knowledge for financial analysis and about the capital markets. Efficient and effective review of reports is critical to protect the interests of the firm and to maintain a competitive advantage by releasing research information before the rest of the Street, especially when earnings are being announced. In reviewing research, a Supervisory Analyst will check that: The thesis and valuation are clearly presented, justifiable and form a reasonable basis for the rating; The reports contain a reasonable basis from which an intelligent investor can make an informed decision; this can entail clarifying and highlighting the rationale for estimate changes, ratings changes, risk assessment and price target changes; Research is compliant within the parameters set by the various regulatory regimes; Exhibits cited are included, properly labelled, referenced and adequately described; Information presented is publicly available and appropriately attributed, particularly when commenting on actual or possible corporate activity; Potential conflicts of interest are managed by the inclusion of appropriate disclosures and disclaimers; References to other companies are relevant and include hedge clauses; Content of research reports is clear, fair and not misleading; Content (argument flow, structure, logic and consistency) is validated. Who You Are You have attained an undergraduate degree in English or business-related discipline. Preference is given to candidates who possess a CFA, an active FINRA Series 16, a Partners, Directors and Officers (PDO) license, or other regulatory licenses. You can demonstrate current or previous experience as a Supervisory Analyst. Capital markets experience is required. Background in accounting and finance is also an asset. You are technically savvy. Excellent knowledge of PC applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, online publishing systems, etc.). You know that details matter. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
