What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Agro Manager, the Operations Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the fertilizer plant, chemical warehouse, farm deliveries and other general facility maintenance requirements. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient work place and offering excellent customer service.
You will work together with the rest of the Co-op Agro team to ensure that our customers receive the best customer service possible. The ideal candidate will have some experience in the ag retail sector, a willingness to learn, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse clientele. Working collaboratively with the rest of the Co-op Agro team and our customers, you will uphold Co-op’s Values in every interaction.
You will be responsible for:
Fertilizer Plant:
Receive Product and manage inventory levels.
Manage customer work orders and fertilizer blends.
Blend and load fertilizer into customer trucks, this will include operating a loader in the fertilizer shed for blending.
Follow the maintenance schedule for the fertilizer plant and associated equipment.
Follow all required safety protocols.
Maintain a clean work space, this may include sweeping, shoveling and washing equipment.
Chemical Shed:
Receive product, properly stack and maintain an organized warehouse.
Load product onto customer trucks.
Follow maintenance schedule for the chemical shed along with associated equipment.
Maintain a clean workspace, this will include sweeping floors, cleaning equipment, etc.
Follow all required safety protocols.
Deliveries:
Load and secure product on delivery truck/trailer and deliver to customer yards.
General Facility Operations:
Other general facility operations that may be required will be yard maintenance such as operating a skid loader to plow snow, mow grass and other general yard maintenance.
Who you are:
You have a go-getter personality with a receptive attitude. You are passionate about a career in Agro, you enjoy Agro-related conversations, interacting with farmers, and customer service comes naturally to you. You also have:
Education: High School graduate
Experience: Ideally 2+ years experience working in Ag Retail. Forklift and Loader Experience is an asset.
Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license throughout employment. Comfortable using a trailer for deliveries. (Will be required to get a G endorsement for pulling heavy trailers, this will be covered by the Co-op)
Able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and stairs.
Willing to work increased hours during the busy season. This will include evenings, weekends and Holidays when required by customers.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
You are experienced in computer skills with an intermediate understanding of MS Office Suite. Prior POS/ CRM experience is an asset.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability and the ability to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times.
