Job Title: Welder
Job Summary:
The successful candidate is responsible for operating and setting-up hand welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes). Work from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions, while maintaining welding specifications.
Responsibility:
Operate robotic welding equipment to produce scissors, assemblies, and fabricated metal parts.
Create components free of weld faults, performing in process and final inspection of own work.
Adhere to welding quality standards and ensure the use of weld stamp for qualify tracking compliance
Load and unload parts, check quality of welds and do basic troubleshooting.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG, gas metal arc (GMAW) and Stick, shielded metal arc (SMAW).
Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor or clamp parts together along layout marks.
Select torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
Use hand, air, power tools, welding equipment for production welding in horizontal and flat positions.
Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
Perform basic troubleshooting of welding machines and welding accessories.
Repair welds fix broken or cracked metal objects, fill holes, and build up metal parts. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
Perform routine maintenance (wire, nozzle, and tips) to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
Assist other team members with technical issues and/or production concerns.
Support the movement of materials for fabrication to pain areas
Academic/Educational Requirements:
Some completion of secondary school or equivalent
Post-Secondary training as a welder is preferred.
CWB certification is an asset
Required Skills/Experience:
Possess the drive and motivation to learn continuously on the job.
Ability to work independently and in a team, setting requiring cooperation.
Ability to interact with co-workers and supervisors to exchange information about tasks and to coordinate work.
Partake in training related to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), use of cleaning products and equipment.
