We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to support the month-end close, revenue and payroll accounting, tax compliance, and reconciliations across multiple international entities. The role requires strong technical skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a multi-entity environment.
We operate in a hybrid work environment, with three or more days per week in the office to support collaboration, alignment, and team development. You must reside in the Ottawa area.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & General Ledger
Process monthly credit card statements and maintain support for accruals.
Assist with Accounts Payable close, including final-day posting of external invoices and approval follow-up.
Prepare and post standard journal entries, including payroll, benefits, vacation, severance, and other recurring accruals across several entities.
Reclassify expenses to proper GL accounts, including travel and recovery accounts.
Record depreciation, loan balance adjustments, stock-based compensation, right-of-use asset entries, and other regular postings.
Prepare allocation entries and support general ledger maintenance.
Maintain consolidated workpapers for AP, cash, fixed assets, long-term debt, AR, and deferred revenue.
Cash & Banking
Prepare monthly cash reconciliations, including verification of payments, transfers, and remittances.
Reconcile investment accounts and support cash flow consolidation.
Assist with AP payment file preparation.
Payroll Accounting
Prepare and post payroll journal entries for multiple jurisdictions.
Maintain payroll-related accruals such as vacation, benefits, and severance.
Support payroll submissions and ensure accuracy of payroll-related postings.
Revenue & AR Accounting
Post monthly revenue recognition entries for subscriptions and services.
Maintain deferred revenue schedules and perform short-term and long-term reclassifications.
Run and post unbilled revenue adjustments in the ERP system.
Perform reconciliations between Salesforce and Netsuite to ensure accuracy of orders and revenue.
Review AR aging, support late-interest assessments, and follow up with customers on overdue balances.
Process and finalize sales orders and prepare COGS postings, including inventory adjustments.
Tax Compliance
Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax, VAT, and HST returns across various jurisdictions.
Other Responsibilities
Assist with revenue accruals for services.
Support consolidated reporting packages.
Prepare documentation for audits and internal reviews.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close processes.
Experience with NetSuite is an asset.
Proficient in Excel, including reconciliations and workpaper preparation.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Effective communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
