Engineering Development Student Our opportunities may include 4-month, 8-month or 12-month work term placements. We have several exciting opportunities for post-secondary students currently enrolled in an Engineering degree in a related discipline (Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear and Engineering Physics). The need and desire for an integrated team approach is critical at Bruce Power as we continue on a journey of excellence that will help drive our business forward. Engineering development students are placed in one of three areas to support our Engineering team in their work, as well as support special projects and initiatives. Design Engineering Our team of design engineers proactively manage the Plant Design Basis and drive equipment performance, safety margins and profitability over the life of the stations. Through rigorous process optimization, analysis, modifications and the maintenance of critical design documents, the team develops standardized solutions to meet changing equipment, regulatory and commercial requirements. Station Engineering Our station engineers are the cornerstone of technical conscience in the safe, reliable and event free operation of the plant. This team drives Equipment Reliability through oversight of design, license and operating margins and in parallel, preventing and predicting equipment failures through proactive engineering and executing long term equipment reliability strategies. Included in the station engineering division are our Engineering Fix It Now teams who provide direct support to the Bruce Power stations in responding to emergent issues. Reactor Safety Engineering Reactor Safety Engineering plays a key role in ensuring the safe operation of Bruce Power reactors and protection of the environment for both the Public and our Bruce Power employees. This team of highly skilled individuals leverages innovative ideas to implement alternative ways of maintaining and improving nuclear safety margins. Key Responsibilities: Gather engineering data to analyze, identify and resolve business issues. Track, monitor and present metrics to improve the overall effectiveness and quality of data. Support Engineers in preparing technical evaluations, solving problems and coordinating technical work to support engineering and operational plans. Assisting in the preparation of technical documents such as equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating and maintenance procedures. Provide assistance with monthly reporting cycle and related standards of documentation. Other duties as required. Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Act with honesty, fairness, and accountability in all decisions and interactions. Strong organizational and planning abilities. Demonstrates strong learning agility. Dependable and self-motivated. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team. A strong understanding of safety in the workplace. Process and Results oriented. Education and Experience: Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree in a related discipline (Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear and Engineering Physics). Must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program. Must have completed a minimum of one year post-secondary studies.
