Job Description
Salary Range: $44.51 - $52.98
Position Summary:
Manage the day to day activities within the Payroll Department and co-ordinate with HR and Staff scheduling
Supervise the processing of bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees within specified timelines
Recruit, train and supervise the payroll administrator and payroll analyst positions including performance evaluations and discipline if required
Facilitate the investigation of payroll data discrepancies and resolve errors as required
Complete month end and year end closing including reporting and audit working papers
Lead specialized payroll projects, including Ministry one time payments
Implement new legislation compliance and Collective Agreement changes to ensure payroll meets compliance requirements
Maintain, update, test and troubleshoot the payroll system
Responsible for the completion of annual year end T4’s, T4A’s, NR4, T2200’s, WSIB, EHT, HOOPP MDC reconciliations
Ongoing development of payroll policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of payroll services
Champion process improvement, modifications, updates and enhancement in technology to ensure optimal performance in the delivery of payroll services
Manage the Lab Physician and Pay for Results programs and reporting
Compile payroll information to meet external reporting requirements
Provide support and expertise to management and staff on all payroll matters
Actively participate in the evaluation and lead the implementation and process redesign of the payroll component in the new HIS implementation
Responsible for building and testing new payroll tables and testing the scheduling interface to payroll in the new HIS implementation, as the technical payroll content expert
Other duties as assigned
The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent required
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) and member of the National Payroll Institute
5 years’ current experience as supervisor/coordinator of large unionized payroll
Proven supervisory/leadership experience; ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
Experience with Meditech financial system and HOOPP administration an asset
Extremely detail oriented and strong analytical skills
Advanced level Excel skills including pivot tables, V lookup
View to process improvement
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong ability to plan and meet deadlines
