Company Description
The Sustainability Manager will oversee a cross-functional Canada working group tasked with interpreting and executing the organization’s global strategic sustainability direction. This individual will collaborate with the global sustainability team to establish goals and implement strategies to achieve short- and long-term sustainability targets. The role involves partnering with the Global Sustainability team based in Austria, as well as local business functions, while benchmarking standards from industry organizations to develop and enforce sustainable policies and initiatives.
The Sustainability Manager will monitor emerging trends and developments in the sustainability field, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and industry regulations. Furthermore, they will act as the Red Bull Canada's subject matter expert on Deposit Return Schemes, ensuring smooth implementation and ongoing compliance with these schemes across all Canadian provinces.
Additionally, the Sustainability Manager will manage customer sustainability and ESG-related inquiries, engaging and educating internal teams and stakeholders across the organization and throughout the upstream and downstream supply chain. A significant aspect of the role will involve fostering collaboration with suppliers on ESG issues, driving alignment with sustainability objectives, and enhancing environmental and social outcomes along the value chain.
This position will also support the company’s decarbonization strategy by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing measures to reduce carbon emissions within operations and the broader supply chain. Moreover, the Sustainability Manager will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and consistency of sustainability data and reporting across all relevant metrics.
Job Description
TEAM & FUNCTION
Live and breathe Red Bull philosophies and be active in driving forward the sustainability agenda
Work in partnership with our Global Sustainability team and other internal teams to design and implement the sustainability program for Red Bull Canada
Create and lead local cross-functional working groups to implement sustainability programs, policies, and procedures
Deliver training and bespoke guidance to internal teams to embed sustainability knowledge, capability, and ownership across all business functions
Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate sustainability projects into business planning and to teams including Operations, Sales and Marketing.
Drive a culture of sustainability throughout Red Bull Canada, influencing decision-making at all levels of the organization, and fostering ownership of sustainability goals and projects across teams.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
Work alongside the Red Bull communication team to deliver communications internally and externally on sustainability initiatives
Own and manage relationships with key external partners
Partner with the Red Bull Regulatory team to review both current and future local sustainability regulatory requirements and inform local and global stakeholders as necessary
Build an effective network to understand common Sustainability challenges internally and across our industry to enable proactive positioning and strategy development
Engage and collaborate with suppliers on ESG topics to drive sustainability improvements and alignment with Red Bull’s goals
Support customer-facing teams in managing and responding to ESG/sustainability requests, including audits and questionnaires
Facilitate workshops, brainstorming sessions, and sustainability deep dives to engage and align cross-functional teams with Red Bull's sustainability strategy
REPORTING
Own the data collection of sustainability metrics and report as necessary to internal and external stakeholders including global counterparts, senior leadership, customers, and regulatory bodies. Be the expert on ensuring Red Bull Canada is compliant with emerging ESG reporting requirements
Ensure sustainability commitments and targets are appropriately embedded into key tools, systems, and ways of working.
Represent and communicate the sustainability strategy among senior leadership functions to drive integration and accountability as a critical component of business success
Drive continuous improvement in the accuracy, granularity, transparency, and consistency of sustainability data across the Canada business
Contribute to the development of data-driven insights and dashboards to track progress towards key decarbonization goals
KEY DELIVERABLES
Be the subject matter expert on Deposit Return Schemes and work alongside the project team on the implementation and ongoing running of schemes across Canada
Act as subject matter expert on environmental and social sustainability within Red Bull Canada
Partner with the Red Bull Regulatory team to review both current and future local sustainability regulatory requirements and inform local and Global stakeholders as necessary
Identify and mitigate risk associated with Sustainability
Lead the identification, prioritization, and support timely delivery of decarbonization initiatives across the business
Drive delivery of supplier ESG engagement, including onboarding, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across the value chain
Develop and deliver internal education and engagement programs to embed sustainability awareness, accountability, and action across all UK business functions
Identify and support commercially viable sustainability initiatives that deliver both environmental impact and business value with relevant operational and commercial teams
Support commercial teams with sustainability insights and data to inform customer conversations, tenders, joint business plans, and category leadership strategies
Qualifications
Experience working in a similar role
Sound knowledge and passion for all things sustainability
Demonstratable experience running projects and leading/influencing cross-functional teams
Ability to use program management skills in innovative ways and remain flexible as the role develops. Identify interdependencies between functions and facilitate cooperative working.
Experience establishing partnerships with suppliers, NGOs, and industry bodies.
Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to build a network of connections both internally and externally
Experience in developing, recommending, and implementing improvements to resolve problems
Subject matter knowledge and expertise of environmental and social sustainability in food/beverage industries
Experience working with facilities, events and supply chain sustainability practices
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding sustainability requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
Proficiency in French is preferred.
