Bilingualism is required as this is a collaborative role at the national level and the candidate will be writing, proofreading and posting content in both official languages (French and English) on social media. The expertise of the social media specialist includes finding relevant “hashtags” and social media trends, as well as providing analytics and insights to the firm. Furthermore, the social media specialist could be asked to provide internal training on social media best practices across McCarthy Tétrault’s offices where English is a predominant language.
We are recruiting a Social Media Specialist to join our team in our Montreal office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three to five years of experience in social media management, preferably gained in a professional services or B2B environment, and will be responsible for managing, creating, and writing content for social media, developing and monitoring the digital strategy, analyzing performance, conducting competitive and industry monitoring, as well as providing training and support to internal stakeholders. As a Social Media Specialist, you will be:
Managing, Creating and Writing Content
Ensure adherence to the Firm’s Social Media Decision Tree, applying guidelines consistently to protect brand integrity and mitigate risk.
Work with Communications Team leaders to develop and support the Firm’s social media strategy, including defining objectives and KPIs.
Write and edit meaningful content in English and French for the Firm’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook).
Manage the publication calendar and publish content.
Develop and support social media campaigns.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to amplify relevant Firm content (blogs, articles, events, announcements, etc.).
Identify and leverage trending content to create timely posts that drive engagement.
Market and Community Management
Monitor social media trends, platform updates, algorithm changes, industry news, real-time conversations, and provide reports with actionable recommendations.
Track competitor activity and social presence, flagging opportunities or potentials risks, and suggest strategic responses.
Implement and manage social media tools (e.g., employee advocacy, listening, analytics) to enhance performance and engagement.
Reporting & Analytics
Track and analyze social media performance using analytics tools.
Deliver post-campaign and monthly reports with key insights and recommendations.
Monitor trends and KPIs to inform strategy and identify opportunities to optimize engagement.
Education & Training
Educate lawyers and key stakeholders on social media best practices.
Encourage and support lawyers in sharing Firm content and promoting posts through their personal channels.
Respond to internal requests for guidance or ad hoc training sessions, providing tailored support as needed.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
University degree in marketing, communications, and/or public relations or equivalent.
Three to five years of experience in social media management, preferably in a professional services or B2B environment.
Bilingualism (EN-FR) is required as this is a collaborative role at the national level. The candidate will be writing, proofreading and posting content in both official languages.
Ability to take complex ideas and turn them into engaging copy for social.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Hootsuite.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and superior judgement.
Basic knowledge of design software (Canva) and visual communication principles.
