Position Summary
Reporting to the Program Coordinator the Inclusion Support staff responsibilities will include the inclusion of all children with disabilities into the camp setting by providing one on one support where required. Inclusion Camp Counsellors will prepare support strategies with an emphasis on age appropriateness and respect for individuality. The Inclusion Counsellor will act as liaison between the parents, participants and staff in the form of pre-entrance meeting, updates and problem solving to ensure all participants with disabilities are fully included in the camp programs.Key Dates
Camp Training dates are as listed below:
June 4 - 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
June 10 - 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
June 20 - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
June 25 - 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Successful applicants may be notified of additional training for Inclusion Support Staff
The times noted above are tenative and will be confirmed in your Employment Offer
Camp Dates:
June 29 - August 28, 2026, or if at Elgin West CC, September 4, 2026
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide one on one support to a child with a disability to ensure they are actively involved in camp activities.
Modify camp programs to ensure campers with disabilities are able to participate in programs and be fully included into the camp setting.
When necessary assist campers with self-care needs. Examples of self-care include but are not limited to: toileting, changing of clothes and/or diapers, lifts and transfers, feeding
When necessary utilize in a respectful manner participants assistive devices
Provide parents/guardians with a detailed outline of the success/concerns of the day’s events pertaining to the individual they are responsible for supporting
Ensure camp ratios are met at all times.
Work with the Camp Volunteers to ensure they are included in the programs and have various responsibilities.
Communicate and interact with participants and make everyone feel welcome
Ensure campers safety and security throughout the day.
Complete all necessary forms (accident, incident, end of session reports, communication books) in a timely and accurate manner.
Represent the City of Richmond Hill by presenting yourself in a cooperative, organized, enthusiastic and well-groomed manner.
Report to work promptly.
Wear assigned uniform and name tag.
Attend scheduled staff meetings and staff training sessions.
Know and understand the policies and procedures of the Community Services Department.
Maintain excellent public relations at all time, with staff and the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Leader In Training Certificate or equivalent
High Five PHCD Certification
Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
Candidates must be minimum 15 years of age.
Background experience and an eagerness to work with children with a disability
Required Skills/Knowledge
Strong leadership, communication, organization and decision making skills.
Ability to multi-task.
May be required to successfully complete the Lifesaving Society Swim to Survive standard
Self motivated.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisions

Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with honesty, openness, respect, and trust
