Job Description
As an Accounts Payable Analyst, you will be responsible for reviewing freight invoices for accuracy and ensuring any discrepancies are addressed promptly. You will collaborate closely with the Transportation team to resolve invoice-related issues and manage month-end activities and reconciliations. Your role will also involve validating freight activities to ensure precise invoicing and responding to carrier inquiries within one business day.
Responsibilities
Review all freight invoices for completeness and accuracy, advising carriers where information is missing or incorrect.
Validate the occurrence of freight movement and ensure accurate invoicing.
Respond promptly to carrier inquiries to address and resolve any billing issues.
Prepare accurate and timely carrier accruals monthly, ensuring they reconcile with carrier reconciliations.
Perform carrier reconciliations at each period end to ensure accuracy and address carrier statement aging issues to meet vendor payment terms.
Collaborate closely with internal Transportation operational staff to address any invoice validation or rate issues.
Execute ad hoc requests as required.
Essential Skills
Experience in freight audit, freight payment, and freight invoice management.
Proficiency in accounts payable, invoicing, and payments.
Familiarity with transportation industry terminology.
Advanced skills in Excel, including pivots, H lookup, V lookup, formulas, and data management.
Experience with large ERP systems such as Oracle and PeopleSoft.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance.
Audit experience is essential.
Background in logistics or supply chain management.
Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Work Environment
The position is based in a campus-style office located in Oakville, Ontario. The work schedule includes four days in the office from Monday to Thursday, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling a 37.5-hour work week. There is a possibility of overtime. Due to the nature of the job, there are no vacation days permitted around month-end, and appointments should be scheduled outside of critical periods. You will be working alongside a team of 16, including two team leads.
