COHO Management Services Society is a non-profit property management company dedicated to supporting housing co-operatives across British Columbia. Since its founding in 1984 by the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC), COHO has been committed to supporting housing co-operatives through tailored, community first management services.
Our services are tailored to support in administration, governance, financial services and property management and maintenance. With a deep understanding of the unique needs of co-op living, we help housing co-operatives operate efficiently, remain financially sustainable and foster vibrant and inclusive communities.
The Ideal candidate
The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of housing co-operatives. This position provides administrative support, assist with member recruitment, coordinates maintenance activities and ensures smooth communication between COHO and its clients. The ideal candidate will be a mature self-motivated individual who can provide excellent customer service. What you’ll do
As an Administrative Assistant, you will be the backbone of our management services team, ensuring that housing co-operatives run smoothly. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide general administrative support, including answering inquiries, maintaining records and preparing correspondence
Manage accounts receivables and payables, process payments and assist with monthly financial packages
Coordinate move-ins and move-outs, maintain waitlists and support marketing of vacant units
Assist with member recruitment, including credit and landlord checks and processing documentation
Support maintenance coordination by administering work orders and service contracts
Maintain inventory of office and maintenance supplies
Attend meetings and assist with annual filings and reporting
Perform other duties as assigned to supper the well-being of housing co-operatives
What you bring
Post-secondary diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience
Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience
Basic bookkeeping knowledge or experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading
Experience with housing co-operatives or multi-unit residential buildings is an asset
