Work Location Kelowna Corporate Office About the Role JOB DESCRIPTION: TECHNICAL INNOVATION SPECIALIST Technical Innovation Specialist will report directly to the Technical Innovation Manager and is responsible for supporting various types of R&D projects, including those related to formulation, product development, process development and stability studies. The Technical Innovation Specialist works closely with the Technical Innovation Project Manager to establish project timelines and to ensure these timelines are met. Collaboration with Operations and Quality departments will also be required to ensure R&D projects align with company goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a strong understanding of product formulations. DUTIES: Assist with the new product development of vapes, infused flower, concentrates, edibles and beverages, including product formulations, sensory, trials, creation of BOMs and other required documentation. Support project timelines and work efficiently to ensure timelines are met Perform experiments and data analysis, document the experimental observations and calculations, and summarize the findings. Collect potency result data and report results/trends/inefficiencies. Assist with the installation, qualification, commissioning, and operation of R&D equipment Support trials of new and replacement raw materials and assist in the material qualification process Collaborate on and support industrial trials on products to ensure production line feasibility for new product launch, material substitution or alternative supplier selection. Responsible for studying and trials for shelf life of new products Create and collaborate on SOPs, batch records and other technical documents Contribute to a positive team environment that promotes hard work, curiosity, innovation and execution Adhere to all company policies and SOPs QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering 3+ years R&D experience in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or food and beverage industries (preferred) Recipe development, sensory expertise, and scale up knowledge in either food or cannabis environment. R&D experience in the cannabis industry is considered an asset Knowledge of analytical testing methods and ability to interpret analytical data Ability to write high quality technical documents (R&D reports, SOPs, batch records) Impeccable verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail with an ability to stay on the critical path and execute Ability to manage more than one project at a time Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute development projects Working knowledge of the Health Canada Cannabis Regulations and GMP/ISO/ICH procedures About SNDL SNDL is one of Canada’s leading and fastest-growing liquor and cannabis companies.
