About the Role:
This role will be responsible for developing digital media and marketing campaigns that reflect our values, programs, and people. This includes producing videos and social media content, updating our website, supporting regional communications, Self Government strategy and attending community and organizational events to document and share stories from across Ontario. This role combines creative storytelling, digital strategy, and relationship-building with a strong respect for Métis culture and community voices.
What you will be doing:
Digital Content Creation & Storytelling
Produce engaging multimedia content including Instagram/Facebook Reels and carousels, TikTok videos, and short-form storytelling pieces that showcase community events, projects, and initiatives.
In conjunction with MNO Comms team, ensure the organization’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) are infused with rich content, tailored to each platform, that grows engagement and builds audience reach
Capture and edit photos and videos that reflect the spirit and values of the organization.
Work with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to ensure stories are told respectfully and accurately.
Community & Event Coverage
Attend and document community gatherings, cultural events, and organizational activities across the province.
Create digital content (videos, photos, interviews, and posts) that highlight community voices and strengthen public engagement and pride in Métis heritage.
Support live social media coverage and event promotion before, during, and after events.
Build relationships with community partners and act as a positive representative of the organization and branch.
Website & Digital Management
In conjunction with MNO Comms team, oversee updates and development of the MNO website (WordPress) and provide support for other associated websites.
Ensure all web content is accessible, current, and culturally appropriate.
Monitor analytics and make recommendations for improving digital reach and engagement.
Regional Communications & Self Government Strategy
Support regional managers and the self-government team in developing and implementing digital communications plans, calendars, and digital campaigns
Assist regional managers to draft compelling newsletters, announcements, and outreach materials that are in line with MNO branding standards
Design and implement communications campaigns for the MNO Self-Government process that align with engagement strategies and ensure consistent, citizen-focused messaging across all platforms.
Work collaboratively with the Self-Government and Communications teams to translate engagement goals into clear, creative campaign concepts that build understanding, inspire participation, and support key milestones such as constitutional development and getting out the vote.
Collaborate with internal teams to align digital content with organizational goals and events.
Identify and implement innovative marketing approaches and tools that enhance outreach and engagement, while optimizing existing processes to ensure consistency with organizational values and goals.
Qualifications:
3 to 5 years of experience
In a digital communications role
University Degree
Proven experience creating digital content (social media posts, short videos, photography, etc.).
Background in communications, media, or marketing.
Strong storytelling and writing skills with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Proficiency in social media management and digital tools
Experience managing websites (WordPress)
Ability and willingness to travel across the province to attend community events and gatherings.
Respect for Métis knowledge systems, protocols, and ways of communicating.
Excellent organization, time management skills and ability to work independently
