The Director, Data and Insights plays a critical role in facilitating important insights that allow Retirement Operations teams to meet and exceed financial and operational KPI targets, identify and address transient and systemic issues, and provide predictive analysis to forecast performance and ensure operational capacity. They provide thought leadership to the organization around data & analytics and actively cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making. Position Responsibilities: Provide empathetic and results-driven leadership to a team of ~10 analysts and data engineers, fostering strong engagement and embodying Manulife’s values. Own North America Retirement Operations’ data models and visualizations (dashboards). This includes: Acting as a strategic partner with Retirement Operations leadership to understand gaps and priorities related to data and insights, and defining the data strategy and roadmap Leading a team in developing and enhancing data models and visualizations Collaborating with other data / IT stakeholders to maintain our development space, ensure rigorous governance around our models and dashboards, and operationalize mature models Playing a leading role in building new data and reporting infrastructure as part of major transformation projects, and keeping abreast of technology and ecosystem changes to update existing models and dashboards as needed Own performance metrics and operational health reporting. This includes: Overseeing KPI gathering, collaboration with leaders to distill insights from results, and preparation of best-in-class reporting for several stakeholder groups Ensuring KPI targets are current, approved and aligned with stakeholders Continuous improvement and automation of the process, coordinating and optimizing with GWAM Operations and Retirement Operations reporting Provide the VP North America Retirement Operations and their leadership team with workforce and financial analysis and forecasts, proactively identifying insights, risks and opportunities to ensure continuing operational capability while meeting financial goals. Required Qualifications: University degree (Data, Information Technology, Finance, Business or related field) Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec. 5+ years of leadership experience, including leadership of significant data/reporting initiatives At least 1 year of experience with demonstrated capability in Power BI or similar data visualization tools Strong capability in financial (budget, unit costing) and workforce analysis Preferred Qualifications: Strong strategy development and oversight capability Superior stakeholder management, consultation and influencing capability Thought leader in data-driven decision making and insights, particularly for organizations undergoing transformation Creative thinker taking an end-to-end view of the operating model, functions, and key processes with the ability to identify opportunities and insights Desire to work in a complex, fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to identify emerging risks, raise issues, and find resolutions that deliver the right business outcomes Project/program management skillset to ensure delivery to objectives and demonstrate business benefits Experience in SQL, Power Apps, Databricks, and Statistical Analysis preferred Experience in Retirement Operations is a strong asset When you join our team: We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
