The Opportunity
As the Resettlement Support Worker, you will report to the Resettlement Supervisor and play a key role in supporting RAP Counsellors within the Newcomer & Community Connections team. You will assist with settlement services, application support, practical guidance, and community referrals to help newcomer clients successfully adjust to life in Canada.
This position requires strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills, along with a caring approach to service. Evening and weekend work may be required on occasion to meet client needs.
Responsibilities
Assist RAP Counsellors with client connections to and in community services and opportunities
Work as directed by Resettlement Team Lead to assist clients with significant settlement barriers
Assist RAP Counsellors with duties and responsibilities to community partners
Liaise with community service providers on behalf of clients as requested
Work with RAP Counsellors to book appointments for newcomers, and accompany clients to the appointments if needed
Communicate with clients as requested by RAP Counsellors regarding information and orientation sessions or meetings
Assist the RAP team with document handling and paperwork during peak arrival periods of government-assisted refugees
Complete quarterly reports
Complete monthly expenses
Attend staff meetings
Perform duties as assigned by the Manager, Newcomer Support Services and GM, Newcomer and Community Connections
Skills And Qualifications
Ability to work flexible hours
Fluent English language ability, knowledge of other languages is a great asset.
Approachable and possessing a strong client-centric attitude
Heightened sensitivity to the needs of our immigrant community
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Exceptional organizational and inter-personal skills
Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search)
