The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Finance Clerk administers the District’s accounts receivables processes including annual property taxes, associated tax deferrals and all other revenue collections. The Finance Clerk provides these services in an effective manner while ensuring the District’s finances are current and that the payments and charges due to the District are collected and received within established time frames.
Role Requirements
Applicants must meet the following essential requirements:
High school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a recognized post-secondary program in payroll or accounting
Minimum of 2 years of payroll or accounting experience
An equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience may be considered
Exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated customer service orientation
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and tact
Advanced proficiency in financial software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Highly motivated, efficient, and adaptable with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
Preferred
Knowledge of municipal government financial operations, specifically administering and collection of property tax revenues
Working knowledge of Vadim accounting systems
Enrolment or membership in the Canadian Payroll association or a recognized accounting program
Working Conditions
This is a temporary backfill opportunity of a unionized position within the BCGEU, with an anticipated term of three months. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Wage for the position is set at Grid Level 9, $35.95- $39.46 (2026 rate) per hour plus 9.8% of the straight-time pay in lieu of scheduled vacations, paid holidays, health and welfare benefits and other paid leave.
