Report directly to the Estimating Manager, the Lead Estimator will be responsible for assisting and where required leading quotes, proposals and estimate preparation for Sterling Crane in addition to contributing in forming the basis of estimate as well as estimate strategy for RFQ/RFP’s. JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time salaried employment. LOCATION: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid). HOURS: Monday through Friday, within business operating hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST (40 hour/week). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with members of Sterling Business Development team across Canada as well as Branch Managers, and other departments in preparing quote/estimates. Analyze RFPs and client requirements to create detailed, compelling, and compliant technical and commercial proposals. Develop detailed cost estimates and project timelines, working with engineering and Branch Managers to ensure accuracy. Interface and communicate with various departments within Sterling Crane, including management, Sterling Crane Leadership team, clients and industry contacts. Track and analyze historical quote/estimate data and other documentation to prepare future quote/estimates. Contributed to pricing strategies for specific quotes/estimates across Canada and assist Estimating Manager on cost data analysis. Work with third party providers and company partners as part of the quote/estimate preparation Participate and or lead in post quote/estimate analysis and risk review. Participate in pre-quote/estimate kick-off meetings with various stakeholders including clients, Branch Managers, Business Development Representatives. Understand and interpret quote/estimate logistics, schedule and project plans Perform quote/ estimate ROC and proforma within the Quote Risk and Review process (QRP) and where required, complete the full QRP review along with all associated documentation. Enter quotes/estimates into Fleet Cost & Care, fleet management software Act as the main point of contact for all heavy lift RFQ/RFP’s. Act as the main reference along with other Estimating Coordinators for transport and Crane vendor lists. QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Business or related technical degree. 5 + years’ experience in the heavy lift or construction industry Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities Strong initiative, combined with planning and creative capabilities Sufficient experience with MS Office and quote/estimate software. Effective written & verbal communication skills along with a willingness to learn and strong attention to detail are required for this role Highly organized and detail oriented Knowledge and understanding of construction and equipment practices and techniques. Demonstrates understanding of quote/estimate costing and project budget formation. Ability to work within a team on company initiatives to drive results.
