Position Summary:
As a Materials Planner I, you'll play a key role in supporting project success by managing material needs from bid to close-out. You'll coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Operations to ensure materials are accurately planned, tracked, delivered on time, and aligned with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop an understanding Projects from the quotation through execution and project close-out and how material planning impacts each phase of a project.
Coordinate day-to-day materials-related activities for projects including maintaining material tracking reports
Work collaboratively with Proposals and Engineering from the bidding phase of a project through to the purchase of materials.
Work collaboratively with Procurement to ensure accurate technical details for material requirements are relayed to vendors.
Act as key point of contact for Project Manager’s for project materials.
Monitor project material receipt, consolidation and release and provide reporting for the business/project requirements/project manager.
Expedite inbound and outbound material deliveries to ensure all project requirements are met.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks proactively
Maintain Expedite report for all project material purchases and ensure document accuracy.
Work collaboratively with procurement, other materials staff, warehouse staff, and project groups to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Work with Project Management personnel to provide forecast information to Procurement team with materials requirements for specific strategic sourcing and agreements.
Liaise as required with Project Services and Accounts Payable departments, as well as other internal Chemelex functions.
Assist with developing, communicating, maintaining, and improving policies, procedures and standard templates for the materials processes.
Engage members from other departments, working effectively to drive cross-functional activities towards streamlining all business processes to ensure the most efficient processes are being used.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering preferred).
1 to 3 years’ experience in Project Materials Planning preferred with strong technical background.
Knowledge of ERP/overall business systems, specifically SAP and Enovia preferred.
Expert experience with Windows Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances; must be able to thrive in a constantly changing fast paced business environment.
Experience in Engineering, Procurement, or Construction projects and an understanding of electrical components and insulation a plus.
Strong communication and negotiating skills a must
