As a Lecturer - Introduction to Sociology, you are responsible for providing theoretical and practical teaching in the field of Sociology. You design educational programs, lead course sessions, evaluate students and advise them in their academic career. You can also contribute to research in your area of expertise. Among the skills and concepts transmitted, we find:
The emergence of sociology and its evolution
Classical and contemporary sociological theories
Sociology in relation to other disciplines of the humanities
Sociology and economic systems
The main theories of sociological research
Culture, Power Relations, and Socio-Cultural Systems
Observation, sociological reflection on contemporary social issues and phenomena
The contribution of sociologists to the understanding of life in society.
Status: Contract – Winter 2026 Session
Location: LaSalle College, Montreal, Quebec
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan class sessions;
Deliver sessions in a dynamic, efficient and structured manner;
Design formative and summative assessments according to the competency-based approach;
Administer evaluations and mark them;
Follow up with each student and encourage success;
Be available to students in order to promote their development of the skill targeted by the course;
Any other related tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
You must be legally entitled to work in Canada;
Hold a university certificate or diploma or a college diploma, with an option or concentration in the discipline concerned;
If the degree is obtained outside Canada, have a diploma equivalence or proof of application;
Teach or have teaching experience in the discipline for a full session within the last five (5) years;
Have practised a trade or profession related to the discipline or course in question for at least two (2) years;
Fluency in the French language (oral and written);
Proficiency in the English language at a professional level (oral and written).
This role involves frequent interactions with international students and team members. A professional command of English and French is therefore required for this position.
