The Planner I in Design Build participates in new construction design projects in the areas of production jig design and drawing development.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What you’ll do
Produces jig designs, plans & drawings in line with the Block Build Strategies to facilitate manufacturing assemblies within the relevant workstations and stages of construction.
Liaises with the lifting and turning team for jig structural analysis and approval.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
up to 2 years of experience in planning and production control in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment. Experience in the shipbuilding industry is a definite asset.
Experience drafting and designing jigs is highly desirable.
Understanding of shipbuilding strategy concepts, manufacturing processes and techniques.
Technical skills with ability to read blueprints/drawings.
Experience with Cadmatic and AutoCAD software, document control systems and databases.
Organizational skills and ability to maintain organized under pressure and in changing environment.
Attention to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to gather and interpret relevant information.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Time management skills and ability to work on several issues simultaneously.
Communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800 - $90,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
