Recreational Therapist (Youth Wellness)

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community-based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking a 1 FTE Recreation Therapist – a passionate and committed individual who will be a key member of our Inter Professional Care Team. This role is dedicated to building strong community connections, fostering trust, promoting programs and services, and supporting vulnerable and marginalized populations in accessing care.

QUALIFICATIONS:
College-level diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
Registration with TRO (R/TRO, R/TRO DIP).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to be an effective team member as well as work independently.
Demonstrated ability for problem solving, data collection and analysis, evaluation, implementation and follow-up of decision.
Ability to work effectively with diverse clients with multiple concurrent problems and a variety of issues.
Ability to work with clients, and in a group setting.
Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.
Awareness of and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues.
Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel/MS Word).
Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel to other service locations.
