Who we need
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, we are looking for a trusted business partner and employee advocate to join us as a Human Resources Manager supporting our Manufacturing and Operations teams across our Toronto sites. In this role, you will implement HR programs, advise leaders on people practices, and champion initiatives that enhance culture, collaboration, and employee experience within a dynamic, high-volume environment. You will partner closely with plant leadership to deliver HR strategies that strengthen performance, engagement, talent capability, and operational effectiveness. Engaged across the full employee life cycle, you will play a critical role in shaping an inclusive, consistent, and people-first experience for our 24/7 production workforce.
This is a full-time role, currently following a hybrid model working 4 days a week on-site at our Scarborough location and 1 day remotely.
What’s in it for you
Impact and innovation. You will shape the future of our growing manufacturing organization by building, refining, and scaling people-focused processes. Your work will directly influence workforce capability, operational consistency, and the overall employee experience across North America.
Influence and ownership. You want to take the lead on initiatives that extend well beyond day-to-day HR operations. From supporting frontline teams to advising senior executives, you will identify opportunities, drive meaningful improvements, and implement solutions that strengthen our culture and performance.
Career development. As we expand our footprint and gain greater global exposure, you will grow alongside us. You will broaden your expertise, deepen your strategic impact, and build the foundation for future leadership opportunities. We are committed to investing in our people and creating an environment where proactive, growth-oriented HR professionals can thrive.
As our new Human Resources Manager, you will:
Build strategic partnerships. You will foster trust and influence with plant managers and operational leaders. You will gain insights into production demands and business priorities and support workforce planning, staffing models, and organizational design. You will provide data-informed insights to guide decision-making on talent, structure, and workforce capability.
Act as an unbiased employee advocate and advisor to managers. You will coach leaders on handling performance, conduct, and attendance issues fairly and consistently. You will conduct investigations and offer practical, risk-aware recommendations that align with legislation and company values.
Support talent development. You will lead cyclical performance processes and assist managers in delivering effective feedback. You will partner with leaders to create development, succession, and growth pathways for key talent across shifts and functions. You will support skills development initiatives tailored to manufacturing needs.
Nurture an engaging culture. You will promote an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture on the production floor. You will execute employee engagement action plans and contribute to plant-level committees, recognition programs, and communication touchpoints. You will reinforce company values through leadership advising and frontline interactions.
Deliver training. You will facilitate sessions for managers and employees, created by the Learning Manager, ensuring content is understood and applied consistently. You will provide feedback to enhance program effectiveness.
Support hiring. You will partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit and onboard manufacturing, operations, and technical staff. You will ensure new employees receive a consistent, engaging, and safety-focused onboarding experience.
Collaborate with Total Rewards. You will support salary reviews, job evaluations, and pay recommendations. You will maintain equitable and compliant compensation decisions that align with talent retention needs. You will monitor HR metrics to inform operational improvements and enhance service delivery.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies. You will interpret and apply employment legislation, including the Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and the Labour Relations Act. You will guide managers to ensure consistent, compliant decision-making and maintain thorough documentation.
Optimize. You will identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve plant-level employee experience. You will recommend process enhancements and partner with the HR team to drive greater consistency across sites.
Collaborate. You will work closely with colleagues across local and global HR teams to ensure alignment on enterprise-wide programs, including engagement surveys, talent programs, and HRIS implementations. You will participate in cross-functional HR projects that support strategic improvement across the function.
You have:
The expertise. You bring progressive HR experience, ideally from manufacturing, operations, or other high-volume hourly environments such as retail, food and beverage, call centres, or entertainment. You have demonstrated success delivering HR initiatives end-to-end, navigating ambiguity, and driving measurable improvements in culture, processes, and performance. You have advanced experience in employee relations and are comfortable supporting 24/7 workforces.
The practical experience. You are comfortable working in a plant environment. You understand how people strategies influence operational outcomes. You can manage organizational or programmatic change, balance strategic priorities with day-to-day needs, and deliver training to diverse audiences. You have substantial exposure to workforce planning, scheduling complexities, and seasonal ramp-ups.
The project management. You have led complex, cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced environments. You excel at managing timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables with discipline and clarity. You are solution-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to bring structure to less-defined environments.
The consulting skills. You ask the right questions to uncover business needs and translate them into processes, documentation, workflows, and clear presentations. You communicate insights in a way that resonates with everyone. You have exceptional relationship-building and collaboration skills, and you excel at gaining trust to influence and coach managers and employees.
The technical expertise. You are proficient in Microsoft Office, comfortable with HRIS platforms, and able to interpret HR data to support decision-making. Experience implementing systems or large programs is an asset.
