Primary Purpose:Industrial sewing machine operators will be in charge of sewing fabric, leather or synthetic materials to produce or repair garments and other articles for Roots iconic leather goods. The Machine Operators must remain focused and diligent in performing their tasks correctly and with care to keep everything running smoothly.As a sewing machine operator, you should use patterns, intuition, or both, depending on each task's specifications. To ensure success as a sewing machine operator, you should display an impeccable awareness of all sewing procedures. An outstanding sewing machine operator will be able to repair minor problems affecting their equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Help to produce leather goods such as handbags, jackets and shoes according to the high standards of quality Roots is known for worldwide. Sew pre-cut leather and fabric pieces including, but not limited to, pockets, flaps, zippers, piping, hoods, sleeves, and linings. Assess the quality of garment pieces before sewing to ensure garments are up to quality standards. Participates in the sewing process as part of a team to ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, delivery schedules and safety requirements. Ensure individual and team productivity quotas are met or exceeded on a daily basis. Adheres to all health and safety regulations and related company policies.
Job Specifications:Industrial sewing experience necessary, preferably in the apparel manufacturing industry.Ability to use various industrial sewing machines including single needle lock stitch and post bed machines.Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.Fast learners and productivity orientedReliable with a good attendance record and a focus on punctuality.Able to work extended hours as required to meet business demands.
