THE ROLE – Junior Data Analyst (Initial 3-Month Contract)
Reporting to the Manager of Information Systems (IS), we are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Data Analyst with a specialization in Power BI to support our IS team. The ideal candidate will assist in leveraging Power BI for data visualization, reporting, and analysis to optimize IS operations. You will play a critical role in creating insightful dashboards, generating reports, and ensuring data-driven decision-making processes are streamlined within the IS department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Power BI Development & Reporting:
Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
Transform raw data from various IS systems into clear and actionable insights.
Use Power BI Portal to automate data retrieval and delivery to end users.
Data Analysis & Insights:
Convert our existing legacy Excel reporting to automated Power BI reports.
Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and areas for optimization in IS operations.
Provide data-driven recommendations to improve IS processes, resource allocation, and overall operational efficiency.
IS Operations Support:
Assist in tracking and reporting on IS infrastructure, specifically hardware utilization.
Support the maintenance of IS assets and resource tracking systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IS resources are efficiently managed.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for automating reporting processes and improving data accuracy.
Collaborate with our senior analyst to implement best practices for data governance and reporting standards.
Knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
Stakeholder Communication:
Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
Provide training and support to internal teams on how to use Power BI reports and dashboards effectively.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Skills & Tools
Azure SQL: Experience writing queries, managing datasets, and optimizing data retrieval.
Power BI: Proficiency in creating dashboards, DAX formulas, and data modeling.
Excel: Advanced skills (e.g., pivot tables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
2-year college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Soft Skills:
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Experience with data quality and governance.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate into actionable insights.
Ability to think critically and troubleshoot issues related to data and reporting.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with IS management software or tools (e.g., ServiceNow or similar).
Experience using Azure DevOps in an Agile environment.
Experience with ERP systems.
Basic knowledge of programming languages such as C#/Python/R.
Understanding of statistical methods and concepts, with the ability to apply them to real-world business challenges.
