What’s the role? The Freeform Process & Quality Engineer job purpose is to : Implement and qualify Freeform capability for CZV calculated products at 3rd party Rx prescription laboratories in accordance commercial and technical directives and to the required standard. Provide remote and on site Freeform trouble shooting support to contracted customers in a timely fashion to maximize uptime and performance Work with MET globally to provide support as needed across the ZEISS network. Provide support and backup to the CE quality depoartment for all aspects of lens testing, evaluation, report writing and customer feedback. The role is customer-facing and involves a mix of onsite and remote activities. Sound Interesting? Here’s what you’ll do: Provide technical troubleshooting support to contracted customers, both remotely and onsite, for all aspects of the Rx coating process (including blocking, generating, polishing, engraving, etc.). Lead CZV product enablement at third-party laboratories. Connect customer LMS systems and set up ZEISS calculation services. Collaborate with quality systems personnel to: Define qualification protocols. Define audit requirements. Review and respond to quality results and audits to maintain customer performance. Work with global and regional teams to support all aspects of ZEISS freeform, including: Qualification and validation of new consumables. Validation of surfacing, polishing, and engraving processes. Update process and technical training programs, work instructions, and other training materials for customers, internal staff, production, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality. Deliver training to internal teams and third parties. Provide input to technicians for equipment repair, maintenance, and installation as it relates to ZEISS support and business objectives. Perform customer capability assessments and audits. Update and create new process documentation and templates for local customer care teams, including site surveys, installation planning, training documents, and operation manuals. Collaborate with other technology experts to ensure seamless integration with other parts of the production process (order entry, coating, edging). Work with T&I to understand and support ZEISS coating developments. Complete all required ZEISS case documentation (case management tool, checklists, swimlanes, digital checklists). Collaborate with CE MET and CE Developer teams to identify and build tools that improve MET services. Do you qualify? Education and Experience Requirements: Associates in Engineering / Science or equivalent experience in technical support and service field in Rx surfacing required. Bachelors degree preferred. 5+ yrs experience in Rx surfacing environment. Experience with machine / equipment communications set up Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In-depth knowledge of Rx surfacing and related laboratory processes Proven experience delivering technical projects with third parties Strong understanding of machine and network communication protocols Consistent high performance in previous roles Excellent technical and project management capabilities Personable, with strong verbal communication for extended customer interactions Professional, reliable, and attentive listener Effective team player, fostering collaboration across regional and corporate teams Ability to motivate and influence colleagues to adopt new techniques and behaviors Advanced problem-solving skills, including statistical analysis for product and process improvement Solid grasp of Operations Excellence principles Equally effective working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team We have amazing benefits to support you as an employee at ZEISS!
