As a CNC Plasma Operator, you will be responsible for the entire process of cutting materials to produce high-quality metal parts that are dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. The Plasma Operator will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plasma cutting machine, troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance to optimize production and minimize downtime.
Location: 141 Consolidated Drive, Paris (training will take place at 100 Savage Drive, Cambridge)
Dedicated Day Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 1:00am. Monday to Thursday
Shift premium: $3.00 per hour for afternoon shift
Job Duties
Ensure plasma cutting equipment is set up with the proper program and materials to meet production demands
Prepare materials for cutting, including setting up the table, and loading material onto the plasma bed to ensure only quality products are produced
Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib) or vacuum lifts, to move material
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating and inspecting equipment
Unload cut parts from the laser table and load them onto part carts to go to the next operation
Cut scrap material using torches, remove it from the cutting table and place it in the scrap bin
Skills and Experience
Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
Ability to use and interpret precision measuring devices (tape measure, square, and vernier calipers)
Collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions when working on projects that involve multiple team members
Physical requirements include standing for long periods, climbing, and kneeling
Qualifications
Previous related experience operating and maintaining metalworking machinery.
Proven mechanical abilities; able to understand and interpret engineering documents.
Ability to read and understand tape measures and other measuring tools.
