Compensation: 5% premium, paid bi-weekly
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Clinical Educator reports to the Operations Hiring Supervisor and is responsible for the coordination and provision of training and related administrative duties associated with the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Program. This program is an opportunity to address challenges to hiring, training or retaining Phlebotomists in Northern Ontario.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Accountability: Training Development, Maintenance and Facilitation
Oversee Trainee learning events and placement rotations based on required competencies,
Ensures all onsite amenities are arranged for the Trainee
Creates a schedule of technical training events for discipline specific tasks / requirements,
Conducts training and competency on discipline specific tasks, supervises their practice and provides support and
mentorship throughout the program
Assess and identify Trainee knowledge gaps and devise strategies for success
Completes all required paperwork for all program Trainees
Provides updates to the project manager regarding progress of Trainees
Consults with other Clinical Educators & Operations Leadership to ensure transition between locations or placement
rotations or benches is seamless and meeting competency requirements and maintaining thresholds for department
resources
Assists in problem solving related to training programs and provides input, as required.
Accountability: Training Coordination
Coordinates and acts as a resource for designated trainers
Accountability: Safety
Observes and executes all laboratory safety and security policies and regulations, including location and use of safety
equipment, evacuation routes, disposal of contaminated material.
Maintains knowledge of safety/WHMIS and TDG procedures
Accountability: Miscellaneous
Maintains confidentiality involving any information made available directly or indirectly about clients including physicians, patients, employees and the company. - Perform other essential tasks as assigned. - Must have a vehicle. Travel required to various locations within the North Eastern Ontario region (i.e. Sudbury, North Bay , Sault St. Marie)
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School or Equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 – 3 years MLA/LPT phlebotomy experience. Minimum 1 year experience conducting phlebotomy and specimen handling training
Notes:
Ability to develop, present or facilitate presentations.
Ability to react to change productively.
Completed Train the Trainer Program in MyDevelopment
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated Customer Service skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to all staff. · Proficient in using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
