Hiring Unit: School of Continuing Studies, Global and Strategic Communication Position summary We seek a dedicated and driven research assistant to contribute significantly to academic and research endeavours. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in research activities in the realm of jurilinguistics, language rights, minority languages, language policies, language management, official language minority communities, and access to justice in both official languages. Key responsibilities Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the selected candidate will participate in research initiatives on access to justice in both official languages. These activities include ongoing collaboration and validation with stakeholders, as well as the application of principles of applied and engaged research in the following tasks: Conduct literature review Contribute to surveys, field trips, interviews and other data-gathering activities Carry out preliminary analysis of collected data Participate in the drafting of reports and scientific papers Contribute to the preparation of presentations Participate in the knowledge mobilization plan to ensure effective dissemination of results Attend key meetings and events with stakeholders Prepare documentation required by working groups and maintain an organized online archive for relevant materials Support communications within the groups and maintain productive partnerships with external collaborators Coordinate research activities (communication with participants, document management, etc.) and assist with administrative tasks (preparing funder reports, etc.) Additional expectations The role involves close collaboration with key stakeholders from the access to justice in both official languages communities. The candidate should be prepared to adapt to evolving projects needs and contribute creatively to the success of the projects, other relevant programs and their initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor or master degree in law, translation or a field related to access to justice in both official languages Interest in research, notably in the fields of jurilinguistic, minority languages, language policies, language management, official language minority communities, and access to justice in both official languages Advanced verbal and written communications skills in English and French Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills Hours: Variable, maximum 20 hours Location: 680, Sherbrooke Supervisor Dr. Marie-Hélène Girard Start date February 02, 2026 End date The initial contract duration is set for six months, with the potential for a renewal based on performance and project needs.
