You'll report to the Foreperson of Warehouse Operations, taking charge of daily activities, guiding Parts Technician I's, and ensuring our customers have what they need to get the job done! What will you do?
Oversee parts room operations and provide direction and guidance to team members
Collaborate with business partners to identify and understand parts and material requirements in order to provide excellent customer service
Acquires quotes for business partners for parts and materials requirements
Use reports from computer systems to lead conversations with business partners on requirements and priorities
Review manufacturer's parts books, catalogs and other resources to select the correct parts or materials based on submitted orders and/or field confirmation
Work with internal teams and external suppliers to source requirements and coordinate delivery within business required timelines
Maintain paperwork for orders, deliveries, returns and other activities for operational and audit purposes
Make recommendations for inventory requirements, alternatives and stocking levels
Ensure the warehouse and stocked inventory are efficiently organized and maintained, conducting cycle counts and investigating when discrepancies are identified
Record your work in our corporate inventory management system (SAP) and computerized fleet management system (M5)
Refer to and follow Standard Operating, Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental procedures, policies and standards
Leads or participates in project activities
Recommends enhancements to current processes and procedures
Perform other related duties as required
Alberta Journeyman Parts Technician Certification or Interprovincial Red Seal equivalent
3 years of practical Journeyman Parts Technician experience
Demonstrated supervisory potential
Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS and SDS training
Assets:
Fork lift truck license is an asset
Experience with SAP or other ERP software solutions
Working knowledge of SAP & M5
Skills required for success:
Considerable knowledge of mechanical parts for mobile equipment including related distributors and dealers
Considerable knowledge of electronic and manual parts lookup practices
Ability to assess and analyze technical parts information
Considerable knowledge of inventory control and warehousing systems and practices
Knowledge of OH&S and WHMIS, including hazardous goods handling, storage and SDS is required
Strong and accurate computer data entry skills
Excellent interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills
Ability to work highly independent; ability to take initiative and be resourceful
Strong leadership skills required to provide coaching and oversight to subordinate roles
Ability to identify where non-standard processes should apply
Proven ability to make effective recommendations and seek approval for the action, as required
Ability to consider the impact to other organizations and business units
Able to understand, communicate in, read and write English at a level needed to meet job related task and safety requirements
Applicants may be required to complete other training courses recognized by the City of Edmonton
Physical ability to perform work functions of this position
Ability to operate a forklift
Ability to follow legislative and City of Edmonton processes and procedures

Conditions of employment:
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License, must be eligible to obtain a City Driving Permit
