Julien Bessaud is a senior executive specializing in brand acceleration and transformation, with deep expertise across international branding, communications, image, and digital marketing.
He helps brands boost business performance, awareness, and desirability through creativity, in a competitive & fast-evolving global environment. His experience spans beauty, luxury, lifestyle & FMCG.
Julien began his career at Publicis and Havas, where he worked as an Account Director managing repositioning and growth strategies for brands like Renault, Leroy-Merlin, Air France, and Louis Vuitton.
In 1999, he joined the advertising department of Le Monde, where he significantly grew the business with high-end clients in the luxury and lifestyle segments & initiated the supplement’s launch "M Le Monde".
In 2008, Julien joined Puig, where he successfully relaunched the global Paco Rabanne brand, spearheading the global success of the fragrance "1 Million", redeveloping fashion and accessories, and strengthening the international communications division. He also led the creation and deployment of a new corporate brand identity for the group.
In 2012, Julien was appointed VP of Communications, Image, and Digital Expertise (e-commerce, CRM, social) for Armani Beauty at L’Oréal Luxe. He played a key role in accelerating the brand’s performance globally - especially in the US, China, Asia, and EMEA - and enhancing its desirability across fragrance (launch of SI, support of Acqua di Gio), make-up and skincare.
In 2017, Julien actively led the strategic reorganization of L’Oréal Consumer Products France, overseeing communications and digital for 23 brands. He focused on operational efficiency, brands repositioning, and their complementarity, as well as accelerating e-commerce performance.
In 2019, he expanded his entrepreneurial skillset as Managing Director of the international creative and event production agency OBO, where he improved both revenue and margin.
In 2022, he was appointed VP Global Brand Communications at Clarins, where he led a Business Unit of 45 people across six departments. He strengthened the brand’s positioning & unicity, delivered distinctive product launches, implemented (AI) digital innovations, optimized budgets & organizational efficacy.
Since 2024, Julien acts as a Senior Advisor, supporting brands and agencies on branding, image, communications, digital strategy, AI-driven innovation, transformation, and mentoring - all with a business-oriented & brand longevity mindset.
