Position: Intermediate Product Designer Reports to: Lead, Product Designer Position Term: Full Time Permanent Primary Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Workplace Type: Hybrid Job Purpose We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Designer for our Mass Market activities and Digital Products. This pivotal role will report directly to the Lead Product Designer and play a critical role in shaping our digital product design experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the user experience and visual impact of our mass market digital activities and digital products, ensuring they align with our mission and brand values. This role contributes to design projects and participates in a vibrant design community of practice within the organization. While direct reports are not part of this role’s immediate responsibility, the Product Designer will serve as a mentor and support system for associate and intern designers across various business units, facilitating knowledge sharing and consistent design excellence. Responsibilities Design Craft: Demonstrate the ability to execute visual design to communicate and solve complex functional and informational challenges. Highly proficient in best-practice design methodologies, patterns, accessibility, and informational architecture principles. Uphold design standards and brand guidelines as they relate to our design system. Strong sense of visual aesthetics that positively influence other designers in their craft; including, but not limited to, typography, colour theory and psychology, design patterns, visual hierarchy, systems thinking, Gestalt principles, etc. Collaborate with other designers to recommend new components to evolve the design system. Brand Consistency: Work closely with Sr. and Lead Product Designers to ensure that our global brand guidelines and brand platform are integrated into the product experiences through the design system. Community of Practice: Be an active participant of the Product Design Community of Practice, fostering an environment of learning, sharing, and collaboration among designers across different teams and business units. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate within your product development team to create user-centred designs. Ensure design decisions always address stakeholder feedback and accurately communicate the status of your work. Communication: Comfortable communicating design work that considers the relevant and wider context of the project. Successful and confident in constructing well-supported narratives based on user insights and sound judgment. Seek and promote transparency and feedback flow between designers and other team members. Mentorship and Support: Seek to be mentored by more senior designers while mutually supporting your peers in the craft. Understand the importance and impact of mentorship and aspire become a mentor to others in the future. Innovation and Trends: Open to new industry trends and consider new ways to improve your work. Seek to foster a culture of innovation. Performance Metrics: Has success in meeting OKRs and impacting some product success metrics. Use data and feedback to guide future design decisions. Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 years of industry experience working on design projects for digital products. A strong portfolio showcasing user experience design, visual design, and brand integration. Collaboration: Demonstrates effective collaboration within a cross-functional team. Communication: Effective communication and presentation skills, a sharp focus and attention to detail, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and rationale in a simple way to stakeholders. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in design, prototyping, and collaboration tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Miro, Trymata, etc. Familiarity with HTML/CSS and basic front-end development is a plus. Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Why Consider Us?
