Job Purpose
World Vision Canada is in the midst of a digital transformation, and the Employee-Centric Delivery group within the Enterprise Technology and Transformation team is at the heart of it. The Solutions Architect is primarily responsible for the end-to-end design of technology solutions to business problems. This responsibility encompasses interfacing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders (both non-technical and technical) to fully understand problems and environments. They collaborate closely with other technical leaders and the agile teams that they support. The Solutions Architect is responsible for ensuring that solutions follow all Enterprise Architecture standards and policies, as well as being an active participant in the community that defines and maintains them.
Responsibilities
Solves, at a high-level, business and technical problems faced by the organization
Estimates, creates, documents and presents reusable solution architectures to solve existing or future business problems
Interfaces with all levels of the organization to understand problems and communicate solutions
Has a complete understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle
Has working knowledge of modern solutions in server technology, networking, databases, big data solutions and web technologies
Understands design patterns and the principles of creating reusable architectures
Articulates solutions to Scrum teams and ensures adherence to documented architecture
Ensures that solutions adhere to all Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, processes and policies
Participates in the definition and maintenance of Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, processes and policies
Works with the Enterprise Architecture community to define strategic direction and roadmap
Safeguards the Enterprise against technology creep and technical debt
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
5+ years of development experience
5+ years in software architecture, data architecture, solutions architecture or equivalent
Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure full understanding of problems and compelling articulation of solutions
Wide breadth of technical skills, including but not limited to:
Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar CRM/ERP business suite
Web technologies (including HTTP/HTTPS, Web services, SAML, Javascript and JS frameworks)
Integration technologies/architectures, e.g. SOA, Microservices, MQ, EDI
RDBMS, No SQL and Big Data data storage and related technologies (e.g. Snowflake, Spark, etc.)
System migration and integration architecture
Cloud solutions architecture
SaaS, PaaS and COTS implementation architecture
DevSecOps principles and Design patterns
Strong ability to adapt and learn new technologies
2+ years of delivery experience in Agile environments
