Responsibilities This is a Hybrid position, applicants must live within a 70 mile radius of the Phoenix, Arizona site.
The transplant billing coordinator is an experienced position that is responsible for the accurate billing of all packaged transplant claims. This includes evaluating the services that are to be included or excluded from the package claims submission, ensuring timely and accurate calculation of the packaged transplant claims in accordance with contract terms as well as determining which phase of the transplant the patient is in. This includes resolving claim edits, late charges, etc. to ensure timely submission of transplant packages. In addition, the coordinator will perform claim corrections as necessary to comply with contractual requirements. This position will be responsible for escalation to payers working complex and high dollar billing tasks, including billing activities requiring deep insight in to claim processes requiring comprehensive interpretation and understandings of payer contracts. This position will work collaboratively and in coordination with the follow-up team providing expertise when called upon to ensure timely collections. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines
as well as established productivity standards to support the work unit’s performance expectations.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required, Associates degree or higher preferred. Minimum five years of experience in medical billing (hospital and/or professional) and/or finance required.
Transplant billing experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, i.e. English, including proper phone etiquette. Financial, analytical, and mathematical competencies essential. Advanced computer/keyboarding skills. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance; may be required to work OT.
Competence and experience with Epic is required. Advanced knowledge of medical billing and collections processes required. Advanced knowledge of healthcare and transplant terminology preferred. Knowledge of transplant billing requirements preferred. Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Certification Preferred.
