RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
Position summary
The DERIVE (DEvelopmental Research on Interactions between Variants and the Environment) research program is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team. DERIVE is an interdisciplinary research program investigating how genetic variants and environmental exposures shape the developmental origins of disease. This role involves applying cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques to functionally validate gene variant-by-environment interactions in the pathogenesis of developmental diseases using cell culture and animal models. The primary responsibility will be maintaining and expanding our induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and organoid cultures to support ongoing research efforts.
General Duties
• Maintain and culture cell lines and iPSCs, and differentiate iPSCs into organoids,
• Generate CRISPR/Cas9-edited iPSC lines,
• Conduct a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, including, but not limited to, qPCR, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and Western blot,
• Perform histological techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining,
• Optimize, troubleshoot and refine methodologies as needed,
• Accurately document experimental results, analyse data and interpret findings,
• Compile data and present experimental updates to the team,
• Prepare stock solutions and aliquots,
• Maintain an inventory of lab reagents and place lab orders,
• Clean and maintain lab equipment,
• Contribute to the preparation of figures, publications, and grant proposals,
• Assist in training new lab members,
• Support general laboratory operations and administrative tasks as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
