Description
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Principle Investigator.
Following established procedures, the Research Assistant will assist in the implementation of the project. The Research Assistant will be responsible for contacting participants, conducting in-person appointments, and ensuring collected data is submitted in an accurate manner.
No previous experience is required and training will be provided on the job. The Research Assistant must have the ability to prioritize and determine importance from a large volume of work on a constant basis.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Ability to demonstrate assigned tasks are done on own initiative in a timely fashion and that results are beneficial to the success of the research project
- Interviews and enters data
- Must maintain the ethical and confidentiality standards
- Contacting participants, conducting in-person appointments, and ensuring collected data is submitted and accurate
- Good relationships are established and maintained with all research project members and participants
- Ensure relevant research methodology is applied and proper handling of all research material is used
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Post Secondary education required
- Combination of education and education considered
- Experience with working with the public is a strong asset
- Experience and knowledge working in a post secondary institution is an asset
- Knowledge of health and scientific terminology is a strong asset
- Knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Word is a strong asset
- Health services research experience a strong asset
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work as a member of a team, staff, and research team members
