Reporting to the Operations \& Maintenance Manager, the O\&M Lead is a client-facing, technical subject matter expert and a frequent on-site representative of PowerON, responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure, battery storage, and electrical distribution systems, including developing on-site maintenance and commissioning activities. This position will lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrification systems while working closely with clients, engineers, third-party engineers, O\&M contractors, technicians, electricians, OEMs, and software providers. This role requires a strong electrical background, extensive field experience, and the ability to provide technical expertise and recommendations in maintenance, commissioning, and system diagnostics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee commissioning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of EV charging infrastructure and electrical systems.
- Ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed on site by contractors, operators, and anyone working around the charging infrastructure.
- Design and sign-off on functional performance tests and define success criteria based on O\&M data, customer input, and OEM technical material.
- Develop and maintain standardized checklists, commissioning reports, and SOPs for O\&M activities.
- Oversee corrective and preventative maintenance per manufacturer guidelines, conduct quality checks, and track results.
- Provide technical advice and guidance pertaining to all maintenance and commissioning activities.
- Make technical recommendations to shape the O\&M program and customer offerings based on data, insights and industry experience.
- Produce work plans, and schedule on-site maintenance activities with OEM technicians, contractors, and field teams.
- Ensure availability of equipment, spare parts, and technical expertise for maintenance work.
- Maintain a cross-project technical issues log to track lessons learned and optimize asset performance.
- Provide instructions and oversight of on-site testing, inspections, and system performance verification.
- Provide direction, guidance and support to technicians, contractors, and customer site representatives.
- Lead regular meetings to align project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Analyze SCADA and EMS interdependencies to recommend corrective and maintenance activities.
- Use the CMMS platform to monitor and analyze system performance.
- Generate reports and analytics to track maintenance progress, identify trends, and optimize charging infrastructure.
- Support the expansion of a centralized operations/monitoring center.
- Review, prioritize, and dispatch work orders for maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Design and coordinate spare parts inventory with third-party warehouse and inventory providers.
- Document onsite maintenance activities, work orders, and best practices to make recommendations on continuous improvement.
- Facilitate client training activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field.
- 7 years of relevant experience in on-site technical guidance to trades, OEM representatives and contractors field personnel.
- Journeyperson Electrician License or extensive experience with on-site performance of electrical duties.
- Ontario Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) (an asset).
- Certified Maintenance \& Reliability Technician (CMRT) or related certifications would be ideal.
- ESA Electrical Safety Certification or related certifications would be ideal.
- Experience with CMMS, and other maintenance management software is an asset.
- Extensive knowledge working with OSHA regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized with strong problem-solving skills.
- A team player who can collaborate across multiple teams in a dynamic environment.
