Project Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Warehouse Accountant (office-based) to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all inventory movements within the warehouse. You will collaborate closely with warehouse, procurement, logistics, and finance teams to maintain reliable inventory records and support the overall financial health of the company.
This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON and requires a daily presence in the office and/or on the construction sites.
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
The Warehouse Accountant Key Responsibilities Are

Record all inventory transactions (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments) accurately in the accounting system.

Ensure proper classification and allocation of inventory costs in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.

Update and maintain inventory ledgers and related accounting entries.

Conduct monthly reconciliations between physical inventory and accounting system balances.

Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shrinkage, or costing issues.

Prepare regular inventory reports, including:

Inventory turnover

Stock levels
-
Aging reports
-
Inventory valuation
-
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

Support month-end and year-end closing activities by providing accurate inventory data.

Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to validate:

Purchase orders
-
Goods receipts
-
Invoices
-
Delivery notes
-
Maintain documentation to support internal controls and audit processes.

Assist with internal and external audits by preparing reports and responding to requests.

Identify and propose improvements to inventory accounting processes and controls.
Education And Qualifications
- Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or a related field
- 5-7 years of relevant operations accounting experience in a heavy industry such as construction, mining, engineering, or heavy manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of inventory valuation methods
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in a construction, rail infrastructure is an asset.
