Role Summary:We are seeking a Senior Metallurgist/Process Engineer with 8+ years of experience, ideally with a strong background in flotation and mineral processing operations.
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in optimizing flotation circuits, conducting pilot plant studies globally, and providing expert metallurgical support during onsite commissioning. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of mineral processing, with a passion for technological innovation, and be highly proficient in managing complex technical projects. This role involves 30-40% travel, offering the opportunity to work on diverse sites and mineral processing facilities worldwide.
Essential Responsibilities:Analyzing and interpreting metallurgical and operational data to drive performance improvements. Designing and executing test campaigns for flotation circuits and mineral processing plants. Overseeing and conducting pilot plant campaigns both remotely and onsite, ensuring adherence to project goals.
Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior metallurgical engineers. Leading the commissioning of mineral processing equipment and supporting troubleshooting efforts onsite. Developing and optimizing flotation circuit flowsheets and overall mineral processing designs.
Preparing and reviewing technical documentation (e.g., reports, manuals, specifications, PFDs, mass balances, and P\&IDs for flotation plants). Participating in R\&D initiatives to advance new technologies and processes. Leading pilot plant studies from setup to completion, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
Leading maintenance activities on pilot plant equipment and coordinating part requisitions. Traveling to global mineral processing sites for commissioning and optimization projects (30-40% travel). Qualifications/Requirements:A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mining Engineering, or a related field.
Professional engineering designation (e.g., P.Eng.), is an asset.8+ years of experience in mineral processing, with a significant focus on flotation. Proven expertise in start-up, commissioning, and optimization of mineral processing plants. Strong experience with pilot plant operations, including both design and execution of complex campaigns.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Valid driver's license.
In-depth mineral processing knowledge, particularly in flotation and plant optimization. Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving abilities, with a creative and proactive approach.
Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is an asset. Experience with non-conventional flotation technologies (e.g., SFRs) is a plus. Practical skills with basic tools (e.g., wrench, drill) or a willingness to learn.
