Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this position leads, manages and directs Purchasing and/or Strategic Sourcing activities for Atlantic while maximizing value through cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, support and develop Procurement team
- Implement vision and strategies for Procurement department
- Develop and maintain Purchasing policies and procedures
- Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Purchasing function
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services for Atlantic
- Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepares market analysis reports
- Manage key suppliers via category management, supplier evaluation and quarterly reviews
- Evaluate supplier quotations utilizing appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service
- Design, implement, manage, and monitor Purchasing reporting systems to meet company requirements
- Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
- Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and supplier agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications
- Oversee all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity
- Assign Purchasing requests to the appropriate personnel
- Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors
- Establish and maintain Purchasing KPI's
- Establish objectives for direct reports and monitor staff development and performance
- Perform other tasks or jobs as need or required
Skills/Qualifications
- College Diploma (3 year) or University Degree
- Procurement Designation (CPP or CSCMP)
- 10+ years Purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing environment
- Previous managerial experience required
- Strong/effective communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Strategic Sourcing principles
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Ability to obtain bottom line results via cost reduction and continuous improvement
- A self-motivator who motivates others and enables them to bring out their best
- Demonstrate leadership and positive interpersonal skills with all levels of staff, management, and external suppliers
