A key aspect of this initiative involves attracting and retaining skilled tradespeople in Canada, which is where this role plays a vital part. EHRC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a federally funded initiative aimed at enhancing apprentice retention in Canada's electricity industry. The successful candidate will oversee programs focused on competency development and transfer, manage all aspects of the project, and collaborate with a small team to design and implement innovative solutions.
Working closely with various stakeholders, the Project Manager will develop and deliver programming that supports competency development and transfer in the electricity sector. The Project Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Programs and will be accountable for the successful delivery and execution of the project. Key ResponsibilitiesManages the development and execution of the project plan against the funding agreement
Monitors project workplan and regularly submits activity and financial reports to project funder and EHRC management as required
Identifies key stakeholders and initiatives and maintains relationships with industry stakeholders who are interested in, and supportive of apprenticeship
Assesses project requirements, develops project plans, and coordinates activity schedules to ensure successful project execution
Oversees project activities, ensuring timely, within-budget delivery of high-quality results
Identifies, assesses, and mitigates potential project risks to ensure successful outcomes
Leads the process of engaging consultant services (through competitive processes)Manages any contractor relationships to successfully achieve project deliverables
Works closely with marketing, project and stakeholder engagement teams to achieve project objectives in alignment with organizational objectives
Leads project steering committee meetings and focus groups and provides support to steering committee/focus group members as needed
Participates in the monitoring and reporting on the project financial progress, calculating and reporting cash and in-kind contributions
Ensures all parties and stakeholders are informed of project progress
Establishes key performance measurement strategies to monitor the effectiveness of individual activities
Participates in identifying and securing new sources of funding for labour market initiatives
Represents EHRC at the federal/provincial/territorial levels and with other organizations as required
May perform other duties as required by the organization from time to time
Education, Experience and SkillsUniversity degree in Social Sciences, Education, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience3-5 years of experience managing social science, training, or labor market intervention programs
Successful stakeholder engagement experience, with ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of Canada's apprenticeship system
Project management experience (PMP designation an asset) with a demonstration of project completion on time and within budget
Strong English communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills
Proven partnership development experience is ideal
Ability to present to external audiences
Proficient in MS Office, internet research, and other computer skills
Knowledge of workforce development, competency development, and training (asset)Experience with federally and provincially funded projects (asset)Experience working in the apprenticeship sector (directly or indirectly) would be a significant asset

Occasional travel across Canada required
