Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location the Senior Manufacturing Supervisor will report to the Manufacturing Manager in the Operations department. The Senior Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the achievement of established production and overall company objectives in the areas of safety, quality, cost and productivity.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and scheduling activities in the manufacturing department.
- Provide reports to management on achievement of daily and weekly production goals.
- Ensure production plan is met by scheduling/utilizing appropriate personnel.
- Manage workflow by monitoring personnel and resources and developing reporting processes \& procedures.
- Manage the employee safety program on an ongoing basis; ensuring employees have the proper training, skills, and tools to work safely.
- Create and sustain a safe work environment and maintain compliance with industrial workplace safety and health regulations.
- Identify improvement opportunities for safety and lead or recommend corrective action.
- Ensure employees have the proper training, skills and tools to perform work which follows Quality procedures, policies, work instructions, and ISO standards.
- Prepare workforce for ongoing Quality System Audits.
- Implement process improvements designed to improve quality system metrics.
- Meet financial objectives by controlling overtime and variable department expenses.
- Effectively manage employee payroll system for own department.
- Ensure Powell fixed assets are properly utilized and maintained.
- Develop and deliver effective communications with direct reports, teams, other internal departments, and external contacts.
- Lead and conduct effective toolbox meetings.
- Administer Powell policy and procedures consistently.
- Develop individuals and work teams such that they can operate effectively with minimal supervision and subsequently grow into greater levels of contribution.
- Maintain accurate training records.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback for all direct reports.
- Effectively manage performance by holding all employees accountable.
- Lead and influence employees at all levels through the change process.

Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree considered an asset (BA/BSc/B.Eng.).
- Holds a Journeyman Ticket and/or is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
- 5 years of experience in a leadership role with responsibility of a team of 10 employees or more or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a project management and process improvement role.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, Environmental regulations, and employment laws.
- Knowledge or experience in Lean Manufacturing, TPS, or other continuous improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required.
- Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
- Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, and all-size extension ladders).
- Job requires working both indoors in an office setting and in manufacturing shop.
- Working in front of a computer 50% of the work day.
Physical Requirements
- Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
- Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
- Standing, walking, and speaking for long periods of time.
- Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force up to 20 lbs.
- Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
- Perceiving size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the fingertips.
