Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) is a non-profit organization that gives youth an opportunity to volunteer in their community. For over 44 years, it has paired volunteer young adult mentors aged 16-29 with youth ages 6-15 to engage in activities to develop mind, body, character, and leadership skills. Our non-profit connects volunteers to meaningful mentorship experiences that profoundly impact the most vulnerable youth and their families in communities across Toronto and York Region.
What you'll be doing
We are currently looking for Mentors:
- Peer mentors are young adults aged 16-29 who act as positive role models to help at-risk and newcomer kids aged 6-15 to reach their full potential.
- Individuals that can be a Role Model \& have fun bonding with the youth while engaging in social and/or academic activities.
- We ask volunteers to commit to meeting with their mentee on a consistent weekly basis, including an average of 10 hours per month for a minimum of 1 year. Matches may continue beyond 1 year if both parties agree to remain matched. The youth you will be paired up with will have similar hobbies and interests to you and will also live nearby. We provide opportunities for many trips and events.

The areas the youth are located are as follows: NORTH YORK, YORK REGION, SCARBOROUGH, DOWNTOWN TORONTO, ETOBICOKE.

Requirements
- Proof of Covid Vaccination.
- Able to commit 3 hours each week for 12 months to a mentee.
