Please note this is an Operation Room Technician (LPN) position in the surgical suite (OR). Under supervision of the OR Manager and Charge Nurse, you will assume responsibility and accountability for the management of patient care as outlined by AHS policies, professional association standards, and ORNAC standards.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Post-Grad Perioperative Certification required or completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course. Ability to communicate effectively and adeptly to meet the needs of patients/clients and to communicate with physicians in a concise and accurate manner. Reliable and dependable. Ability to safeguard AHS information as private and confidential. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Proven ability to anticipate and respond to critical situations. Work effectively in a team environment. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies and procedures, goals, and objectives. Demonstrate ability to assess own educational needs regarding knowledge and skill development and to participate in the appropriate educational opportunities. Demonstrate ability in the use of principles of time management and effective problem solving. Demonstrate skills in conflict management. Demonstrate technical and clinical skill in scrub and circulating in theaters. Ability to interpret 3 lead ECG. Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve the immediate complications of anesthesia. Flexibility to function in multiple perioperative settings. Proven ability to mentor/precept new staff members.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years recent surgical suite (OR) experience. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Certification of perioperative course. Teaching and mentoring skills desired. Basic computer skills including connect care an asset.
