Who We're Looking For:
As Director of Data \& Automation, you will define and lead the vision for our data and automation stack. You'll manage a small, high-impact team focused on integrations, analytics, and data engineering. You'll oversee the build of a modern data platform that activates insights across advertising platforms, client CRMs, and internal tools --- with a focus on accuracy, scalability, and feedback loops.
This is a strategic and hands-on role that combines leadership, architecture, and execution.
Why This Role Matters:
Our marketing and operations teams depend on data to perform at their best.
This role will lead that data rebuild: designing scalable systems, automating key workflows, and building data confidence across the organization. Once that foundation is solid, you'll drive forward innovation in AI, personalization, and predictive modeling to make Clever's data not just functional --- but a strategic advantage.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll be shaping strategy, guiding team development, and rolling up your sleeves when it counts. This role requires both technical and administrative expertise.
What You'll Do:
- Own and evolve the roadmap for data infrastructure and automation
- Drive quarterly and annual OKRs, prioritization, and budgeting for your department
- Architect, rebuild, and maintain core data systems, pipelines, and CRM integrations (BigQuery, APIs, Make/Zapier, etc.)
- Build API integrations with client CRM platforms (Salesforce, LeadPerfection, ImproveIt360)
- Grow and manage the existing team (developers \& integration leads)
- Architect and build a modern data platform using Google Cloud Platform
- Create a standardized data model that supports internal reporting and client-facing insights
- Design and implement automations to enable closed-loop feedback from CRM to Ads to Reporting
- Oversee ETL and ELT pipelines, leveraging tools like Zapier, BigQuery, and Cloud Functions
- Implement development best practices (version control, QA, code reviews, etc.)
- Champion master data management (MDM) practices and enforce data governance
- Stay at the forefront of data science, AI, and predictive analytics --- and implement as the business evolves
What We're Looking For:
- 7 years in a data, automation, or analytics leadership role
- Deep familiarity with Google Cloud systems (especially BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Google Workspace tools)
- Mastery of CRM/API integrations (Salesforce, LeadPerfection, custom workflows)
- Proven experience building and maintaining cloud-based data infrastructure (BigQuery or equivalent)
- Track record of leading data engineering teams and scaling automated data warehouses across an organization
- Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, and MDM principles
- Platform fluency in Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
- Skilled in automating lead flows, attribution pipelines, and marketing operations
- Experience working closely with paid media or lead generation teams in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with client CRM platforms (Salesforce, LeadPerfection, ImproveIt360, etc.)
- Strong process builder with experience overhauling PM systems (e.g., Asana)
Nice To Haves:
- Experience working in a marketing agency (offline conversions, marketing terminology, understanding of customer cycles, marketing platform proficiency)
- Familiarity with Looker Studio, Google Tag Manager, or similar BI/analytics tools
- Exposure to customer data platforms (CDPs) or real-time activation systems
What We Offer:
- Fully remote with flexible working hours (with access to our Toronto office)
- Top compensation with a clear OTE structure
- 20 days PTO 14 holiday/sick days
- Group health benefits, MacBook, and home office setup budget
- Ownership and autonomy over our highest-demand department
- Opportunity to build systems that directly influence client success and revenue enablement
- Smart, driven, and ambitious teammates who are deeply collaborative
- Work Abroad Policy -- flexible travel/work-life integration
- Bi-annual in-person leadership offsites
- Access to our internal executive coaches
- $1,000/month spending account for department or personal needs
