Provincial Primary Care Cancer Screening Lead
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical and strategic leadership to Ontario's four population-based cancer screening programs.
- Promote participation in cancer screening and ensure appropriate and timely follow-up.
- Collaborate with clinical leads and leadership teams to support the development of evidence-based guidance, policies, and clinical pathways.
- Identify and advise on system-level and program-level issues that impact primary care providers involved in cancer screening.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage primary care providers and build community awareness.
- Lead and support the Regional Primary Care Leads (RPCLs), including organizing and facilitating meetings.
- Represent the cancer screening programs in Ontario Health's provincial primary care leadership structures (e.g., OPCLT).
- Act as a liaison between Ontario Health and the primary care and broader clinical communities.
- Represent the program publicly, including responding to clinical inquiries and engaging with media as needed.
- Serve as an active member of Ontario Health's Clinical Council and contribute to integrated planning with other internal divisions.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and practicing primary care physician in Ontario.
- In good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Demonstrated leadership experience at a local, regional, or provincial level.
- Deep understanding of population-based cancer screening and primary care practice environments.
- Expertise in population health, equity, social determinants of health, and evidence-based care.
- Knowledge of health system structures, change management strategies, and knowledge transfer and exchange (KTE) principles.
- Recognized as a thought leader or influencer in the primary care community.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong presentation skills.
- Experience in research related to primary care, cancer screening, health systems, or health equity is considered an asset.
