Job Summary
To assist with research activities associated with the BC Eating Disorders Research Team. This role supports the Principal Investigator and research team within the Specialized Eating Disorders Program for Children and Adolescents at BC Children's Hospital. The Research Assistant will primarily support activities for research projects focused on understanding the treatment outcomes and treatment-related changes of youth with eating disorders.
Organizational Status
The Research Assistant will report to the PI, Dr. Jennifer Coelho. This position will also work and interact with staff, clinicians, researchers, individuals with lived experience and youth and families in the community who are engaging in research with the team.
Work Performed

Supporting recruitment activities for participants (e.g., youth with eating disorders, caregivers of youth with eating disorders, healthy comparison participants)

scheduling research appointments with participants

Assisting with conducting clinical interviews, administering questionnaires, and medical chart data entry

Regularly updating and maintaining study databases

Assisting in the preparation of study-related reports and analyzing research data, including compilation and summary of statistical and other data

Attend weekly team meetings and support documentation of research-related processes

Performs other duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The program relies on maintaining strong working relationships with clinicians, youth and their families. Therefore professionalism and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. Errors in data recording and entry will negatively impact the study and program overall.
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision in carrying out daily research activities, and will receive instruction during orientation and on new assignments or changes in procedures. Supervision will be provided by the PI and senior research team members.
Supervision Given
Provides training and task-related guidance to students and supports new members with learning about research procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
