Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Stormwater Engineer to join their team in Vancouver and contribute to innovative and sustainable water management solutions. This role involves the development of master drainage plans, watershed and site-based integrated stormwater management plans, and capital plans. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with municipalities and clients to design and implement stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects that enhance environmental resilience and support community development.
Further Responsibilities Include:
- Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for stormwater infrastructure, including green infrastructure, culverts, detention ponds, storm sewers, and other related facilities.
- Leading municipal and site-specific drainage and stormwater design projects.
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff to support their technical and professional growth.
- Preparing technical reports, project documentation, and proposals to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and best management practices in all stormwater and drainage designs.
- Conducting site visits and field assessments to support design and implementation efforts.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration (or eligibility) in British Columbia.
- 4-8 years of experience in stormwater, water resources, hydrology/hydraulics, or related fields.
- Proficiency in SWMM-based software, HEC-RAS, or other hydrological/hydraulic modeling tools.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (considered an asset).
- Strong design and construction experience related to stormwater and other infrastructure projects.
- Proactive mindset with a commitment to innovation and client-focused problem-solving.
- Exceptional report-writing skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Valid driver's license (in good standing) and ability to conduct fieldwork in various conditions, including remote or rugged environments.
